STS turbo
#2
maybe if you spend the money to build a shortblock/ rotating assembly that can handle being boosted. Stock bottom ends in lt-1's dont like boost. However it can be done on the stock shortblock with a REALLY REALLY GOOD dyno tune. I believe a guy on ls1tech in the Lt1/4 section had a turbo pumping 7 PSI on his DD for 2 years before the turbo failed and ruined his motor. Whoever did his tune had it dialed in. If you want cheap power the only thing you can do is nitrous but that is in the same boat, because you may go fast a few times or even a few dozen, but your bound to break something using it. Otherwise spend the money on full bolt ons and a mild cam, which will really wake up these lt1 engines up.
BTW the bolt ons and cam option would probably cost about the same or less than the sts kit and with the right cam could yeild more power.

Im going to be putting a 383 kit with heads and cam in the car as soon as i get the turbo thing figured out. i want to have both a good motor and turbo kit. i just dont want to blow up a new motor messing with it when i got a good old motor to test it on first.

If you're going to run a 383 with boost, make sure you keep the compression low and have all forged internals. And a custom grind cam, preferably from Lloyd Elliot, made just for a boosted V8. A cam for boost is cut differently than an N/A motor cam.
