Default Stock rims paintable??

i was wondering if the stock rims could be sanded down with normal sand paper and painted black or if the paint would just chip off and then the rims would rust...

i wanted to paint them black but im afraid that if i take the shiny finish off them they will start to decay.

When you get an aluminum wheel to rust, let me know...

That said, you should be able to sand the finish and paint off of them pretty easily and repaint them. I would prime them first, and then go with a top coat.

just going to throw this one out there, why dont you get them powdercoated, then you dont really have to worry about the paint chipping, yea powdercoat will chip to but it takes liek 10 times for force to chip it than pain, i got mine done a year ago and they still look like they did the day it got done, most powdercoat places can do it in flat semi gloss or gloss, mine are semi gloss. i dont konw if you were goin to do it with a rattle can or professionaly done but if i were you i would just come up with a bit extra cash and get it done like that

I need to do mine also but haven't decided to get new rims or keep the stock ones
just yet, here are some of many options.

Polishing them down to a Shinny Aluminum finish is alot of work and continious maintenance, but it looks good too.

i really want to do a black finish or just buy black 6-spoke rims but i dont want to spend the money right now... i either want to save it up and just buy them or just paint/powder coat the stock ones...

a rattle can is just spray paint, thats all the cheepest way to go, it cost me 200 bucks for the guy to do mine plus the fees to have the tires remounted but in my opinion its the best way to go for factory wheels, if you dont want to get aftermarkets
