starting problems

Default starting problems

so i have a 96 camaro z28 and when i go to start it it does nothing. i already replaced the starter already and am out of ideas and patience for it. anyone got ideas what it might be?

check the ignition fuse. should be in the fuse box under the hood on the driver side fenderwell. otherwise i would say its the vats acting up. could be wiring, vats modual, key reader or key chip.

Are you saying that the starter is not engaging? Is the security light lit?

no the security light isnt on and nothing engages when i turn the key. it literally does nothing.

no i dont think the security light is lit. what would it mean if it is? i checked the fuses and they are all fine.

Have you checked for voltage from the battery? When you open the door, do the interior lights come on? Does anything electrical work?

the battery is fine and everything works it just doesnt start.

test ignition switch, its toward the bottom of the column on top side of it i think at least thats what it shows. ill have mine apart soon so ill know, gotta replace the turn signal switch.

questions

when you turn the key do you hear the fuel pump?

If not, it's time to yank out the steering column and replace the ignition switch.

It's not as bad of a job as it sounds.

Heck, here you go. Shoe has it in details and with photos. If your wheel is worn it's a good time to sew on a nice wheelskin cover

what if i do hear the fuel pump? then what might it be? im at a loss and cannot figure it out.
