on a '94 formula firebird, can you change the speedo from a 115 mph to a 150 mph? if so do you have to get the car reprogrammed so that the speedometer is right or does it work automatically?

i know when i helped a friend change his speedo in his 84 TA he just had to figure out what wires hooked up where, and there was a lot of them too, not sure about the reprogramming though, i would say no but i could be wrong...
