spark plug wires
i was told that i should upgrade my spark plug wires because i have headers. since i have an msd coil and box they told me to get some msd spark plug wires. is it true that its necessary to change the spark plug wires due to the heat of the headers. my car has been turning off on me for no reason and im trying to find the problem. thanks.

Headers will ruin your plug wires. I just recently went through this. And the plug wires I had were huge....They were arching real bad.
If you have headers it would be a nice investment to get some over the valve plug wires. And some boots to slide over the wires by the headers.
When the wires arch they can make the car run wierd....and miss...That could cause it to stall on you...but then again it could be something else.
But as far as plug wires.......headers can certainly destroy your plug wires.
The stock wires can't hold up against the heat that aftermarket headers make.

the issue is the location of plug wires.
I read posts not only here but other forums as well from people who have melting wires. Now, for every post that is made about that, the law of averages must be considered that there are exponentially more who don't have any problems, thus no posts. Why make a post about " I have no plug wire issues"
I fall under the "never had an issue" category. I used the 8.5mm wires with 90 degree boots from jegs. They cost me about $30-$35 (can't recall) and work just great. I ran them using the stock channels and not a lick of problems. I have Pacesetter long tubes.
If you want to see the pretty colored wires then yes, get over the top kits.
As for what is causing your problem, it could be anything but new wires at $35 is an easy way to eliminate that as a candidate

ignition module is next to the coil on the same bracket. can be ohm tested, can usually be tested at a parts store. thing is a failing ignition module can test good and they are not cheap so just replacing is not always something a regular guy can do at a moments notice.
