Default Some help please

Im saving up for some headers and a cam to install this spring/summer and I need a bit of help. Since im going to have the engine pulled I want to go ahead and install a cam. I have a 1996 Z28 with 50,000 miles on it. I need to know the cheapest possible way to get a decent cam setup. I have read what seems like a million posts about cams on here and didnt have much luck finding my answer. Im wanted to go with a .480 lift and I dont know what else i ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO REPLACE...i know it would be smart to replace some things but I need to know the cheapest possible setup for a cam. Thanks guys

to tell you the truth 480 is not that big of a cam at all, a good size would be around a .500 lift for stock heads i wouldnt go any less, the stock lift is .458 i believe, and lobe separation is around 117, youd want a lobe separation around 112-114, and duration around 220/225 @.050 anything less is a waste. oh and make sure you get 1.6 RR it will add a couple extra horses, and some double valve springs, checkout comp cams website.

Call Comp Cams or Crane Cams, and tell them what you have an what you want to do, and they will spec out the approprite cam or the job. Don't get too carried away with numbers, as what works in one apllication may be a total dog in another.

Another way to go would be with the LT4 hot cam kit. It comes with cam, springs, and 1.6rr.
