bought the car with a short throw shifter already installed. it seems like whoever did this may have ripped out whatever sound/heat insulation that is supposed to be there. its throwing a ton of wind/heat up from the shifter area through any cracks in the center council (ash tray and all other areas)

so anyway does that sound right or might he have really been a retard and cut away something he shouldn't have?

and where can I get the insulation barrier to take care of the issue? I assume like the stuff they use to soundproof a trunk with a subwoofer will work?

 

When I installed my Short shifter, I need to trim the rubber thing that goes around the shifter. The previous owner was probably lazy and didn't want to trim it so that is probably why there is hot air coming out. I'm not sure were you could get one. Do some research and try Ebay or your local Chevy dealer.
