the security light?

Default the security light?

the security light is on on my 1994 camaro z28, idk if it effects my performance but the key is not from the factory. the light is always on. what can fix this?

I take it your engine runs, since you didn't say it doesn't start. And you don't have a factory (VATS) key?
Sounds like someone already bypassed the security system.
And no, it doesn't affect performance.

if your key is lose in your tumbler get a new key. Mine was comming on, on and off.

actually camaro 69, the camaro is running rough...it tries to shut off every little while.

Does your key have the resistor pellet in it, or is it a plain key?
Has your security light always been on since you've owned the car, or did it just go on?
With a functioning ignition security system, the engine won't start, it won't even turn over.
If you have a plain non-resistor key, and the engine turns over and starts, your security system has been bypassed. How well or how half-assed is what you don't know.

mines is a plain key, and the light has always been on...should i tear up the ignition to see if the VATs is properly bypassed?

Check the VATS info here as suggested earlier. Then go and check what was done to your car. I've seen hack wiring jobs where it's a wonder that the car didn't burn to the ground. Not everyone is good at wiring, and you could have a bare wire touching ground, or a loose connection. It's also quite possible that your two problems are unrelated.
