security light

Default security light

need some help guys,sold my car to a very good friend about two days ago and the security light comes on,the car still fires up but when you drive anything more then 45-50 it cuts out.New keys?or can I put my scanner on it?its a 93 z28.thanks guys.

does the key have a chip in it? if so try the spare set. if it still does it may be the ignition. anyway check with (z28pete) first.

That is strange. The VATS is only supposed to keep the car from being started and not shut down the car while it is in motion, as killing the engine at road speed becomes a safety issue. It is possible that the security module has gone bad, or some wires or cables arevibrating loose.
Does the engine just shut down, or does it die slowly?

yesterday it shut down down on him and now it wont start,I tried the spear set and nothing.I also tried to clean the keys and the ignition.The engine did die slowly,Should I try the shobox trick and jump it or buy a new ignition?Thanks guys

You can try the key bypass trick, but becuse of the way the car is acting, I have a feeling the problem is with the VATS/security module.
