replacing my rod bearings

Saw a pic of a badly spun main. The cap got so hot it turned blue.

It is a thing of beauty Craby, especially when a bearing half gets jammed on top of the other half, chews up the crank journal, and stretches the rod big end. Even more lovely when it jams the rod, causing it to break and come out the side of the engine. lol

ok so ive decided to replace the whole rotating assembly and valve train just had a quick question i found this rotating kit from scat the only thing im worried about is it says "actual engine cid 383" so this is for a 383 what needs to be done to get to a 383 im getting the cylinders bored and honed i can go .030 over no problem

yep thats a stroker kit. need to bore 30 over to start with. dont know if knotches are needed.

Kit manufacture should be able to tell you what needs done to install their kit. Check with your machine shop. Some of them can get great prices kits and they are kits they are use to working with. That means everything goes together and if there is a problem you had the machine work and the kit purchased at the same place. Just make sure its a good machine shop.

I asked some of my car buddy and they recommended this place 405$ to bore the cylinders line hone the mains and the cam and install the cam bearings

That's not a bad price to me. Seems if they do a good job and install some quality cam bearings, then you would be getting a good deal.

A guy I work with said Hell talk to his guy can prob cut me a better deal
