Default Removing Fuel Rail

I need some help on removing the fuel rail, i have recently had my z28 test for emissions and did not pass. I have High HC and CO, the guy at the smog place told me too look for a leaky injector or change my plugs. My plugs are a year old and so are my wires and distributor. So i wanted to check for leaky injector. I removed the 4 bolts the holds the fuel rail, but i cannot get the fuel rail off. do i try on? do i hank on the thing? any ideas? a tool? something. thanks

did you remove the little clips that hold the fuel injectors?

The fuel rail lifts off as a unit, with the injectors still attached. The o-rings make for a real snug fit into the manifold, so you need to pull harder or gently pry up on each rail with a screwdriver. Then you can slide the clip to get the injectors off the rail. And make sure you have a new set of injector o-rings to replace the old ones before you reinstall the injectors.
But, what do you hope to see after you get them off? One of them isn't going to scream at you "I'm a leaker", and that's if you do have a leaker. For your engine to fail emissions, I would expect your check engine light to be on. Also, is the engine running rough, or is it hard starting? I would check for any error codes before tearing the injectors out. Your problem could be with a bad sensor, among other things.

Engine is not running rough, the car has no problems when starting. i have not check for codes because i dont have a trouble light! Should i still check for codes? One thing i didn't mention that i had a broken and possible leaky emission hose. the hose that comes hooks up to the throtle body and goes to the passanger side valve cover. I dont know if a vacume leak would affect my emission test.

That's a crankcase vent, and that may have been the problem.
If you had a leaky injector, as the engine sits it could flood out a cylinder and depressurize the fuel rail. That can cause a sluggish starting problem, which is why I asked. And if any injector is bad, it would make the engine run rough or sluggish, and should also trip the service light. What year is your car? My Vette has given me error codes that were stored, but never tripped a light. Mine is OBDI though, which is less sophisticated than OBDII. I don't always trust that no light means no problem.

my camaro is a 94, and like i said my cars runs smooth, except for the part that it doesnt pass emissions. Do you know if autozone still checks for codes? Oh and my service light has only come on once and that was maybe more than a year ago.
