Default Random idle issues

Alright guys, lately I've been having some idle issues with my car. Basically it's a random (great, right?) loss of ability to idle. About 25% of the time when I try to start the car it won't idle and it will slowly and steadily just drop to 0 rpms (it dies). When this happens it also has trouble starting. It won't start without giving it a little (or sometimes kind of a lot) of gas. But as soon as it starts it'll run fine with a little bit of throttle. During these times it'll drive just fine also and cruise/accelerate smoothly with no power loss, misses, or knocking. No codes are set at any time. Normally it'll start right up and idles from 800-900 rpms depending on temperature/random stuff/etc.

Quick rundown:
Random loss of ability to idle - Slowly just drops to 0 rpms.
Accompanied by hard starting.
Driving is fine when this happens.
No codes set.

Ask questions if you need info, I'll be happy to oblige! I believe my mods are in my sig now. lol

Have you tested the ECT sensor, or the IAC? Both sensors afect starting and idle speed, and tend to go bad with age, and both can go bad without setting codes.

I've tested neither, though I probably should. It'd make sense though, based on the research I've done on them going bad. Would one of them (I'm thinking IAC) being bad cause the idle to rise at times as well? Because another problem I've been having that I thought was my TB sticking (read about BBK's doing this sometimes online) is that after driving for awhile my idle will rise to 1300ish out of gear. Some more research I'm doing is showing it can cause high idle too, if it's going bad.

I'm leaning towards IAC right now since when we did the build we got a new ECT sensor with the new waterpump. While I hope it's something easy like that, 125 bucks from summit is killer! >.<

OMG plus I just remembered the clip is busted on it! I discovered it/might have actually busted it during the teardown! I might have to go check if it's loose in the morning. lol

Thanks Pete!
