Default ram air air box

well i got an ss airbox for my 94 and it looks like everythings lining up except for the smog junk on the exhaust manifolds is in the way and the box wont sit flush on the intake manifold. can you take this off? if so, how? would you have to remove it from both sides? and will it throw a code? thanks, chris

Default RE: ram air air box

The "smog" stuff on the exhaust manifolds is for the A.I.R. system. If you disconnect the hoses you shouldn't throw a code since there aren't any sensors on the sylenoids. That being said you may be going through more trouble than it's worth since "ram air" isn't even functionally ramming until you're doing 80+ MPH. You're going through a lot of trouble for a little HP in my opinion.
