Default pulled a few codes done some test still no luck

Hello I have a 93 z28 6 speed. With no mods

Starting with code 24 vss. Replaced 3x still no luck probed yellow wire at the ecm and had .08 volts or zero purple wire was correct accorrding to my manual
Do I have something going on with the computer or would a break be that bad where it would be open or faulty even to the computer? Speedo od and trip plus cruise is the only things that don't work

Code 46 vats. Lately car won't start only crank and has died while driving
I tested key and ignition plug and both read 3000 if I ohmed it right it was actually 3.00 k ohms
Security light is flashing on hit and miss cranking cycles and is currently starting and running but oi would like to prrevent furthur problems before it gets serious especially with my kids with me

Thanks in advance

A bad VSS will definetly cause the spedometer to die. The TCC also uses the VSS to know when to lock up.
As for code 46, I don't have a FSM for the 93 models, but Craby may be able to post diagram and trouble flow chart for that DTC.

The computer sends a 5 Volt reference and ground to the VSS. This is used to energize the induction coil in the VSS. The VSS has a small permanent magnet alternator that spins according to the speed of the transmission output shaft. The spinning alternator creates an AC voltage which is superimposed on the same lead carrying the 5 Volt reference. The PCM reads the frequency of the AC voltage and determines the speed of the output shaft. The PCM has a VSS output lead which connect to the instrument panel, cruise control module, and whatever component needs to know road speed.

That made total sense and I think I set my dial wrong

Am I supposed to be dc or ac volt setting cause with key on dc volts its all over the place and ac volts its zero or .08. I still think I. Got a bad computer hell car is pushing 230k well not right now since nothing works lol

Just to add if it helps the speedo needle was flickering and was 20 mph off at times
Replaced vss and that lasted a month the speedo did the same as before then died put a new one in and still dead

What is weird is how I still manage to get a code 24

Wow thanks so if I say no to all then I'm right by saying I got a bad ecm?
Also is there a way to jump a known 5v source to vss wire to see if anything happens

it would be best to get some data using a adld cable and computer. that way you can see if theres a signal to the system. heres a couple places to look at to see if its something you want to do.
GM OBD1 Pre-1996 : Moates.Net
ALDL OBD1 OBD cable OBDI OBD2 engine codes
