Procharger
I was talking with my engine builder the other day about getting somemore power (buddy just got a 600rwhp 04 cobra and i dont want to lose to a ford) and he said that I should Build and stroke the bottom end to a 383 and get a procharger. He said that i should be able to get 650rwhp out of that. does that sound right to any of you?
I thought it was a little high as well.I looked on Prochargers website and they claim that the D-1SC gains 75% more power then stock. My current setup makes 385rwhp and I did a little math and that came out to 672rwhp!
its all dependent on boost.
if you forge the bottom end and drop compression to about 8.5 you can easy hit that. possibly with a D1SC which is a bigger unit, similar to a Strim. the issue is making your motor capable of handling the boost. do you currently have a 383? building a 383 with heads/cam to match will make you well over 400rwhp. adding a SC to this can get you 650 in a heartbeat, just expect to pay for it. it will be more than $20 [&o]

just be clear with your builder you are going FI from the beginning. this means forged bottom, low compression, blower cam, and big port job on the heads. a D1SC can push 20psi pretty easily and this will definitly get you where you want on a 383
All my friends think I'm crazy and ask me why I didnt buy a crate motor. That would be cheating I think to use anyother motor in a car that came with an LT1 is a crime and those who do it should be punished. Anywho do you boys know of a bullit proof crank for the LT1?
