Ok got a 95z. last year replaced the opti spark with a cardone brand from autozone. never had a problem with it. This weekend i replaced a faulty fuel pump. so heres my problem. i got in it to go to work this morning. drove about 20 mins no problem. and then all of a sudden it started sputtering and shaking violently. no check engine light came on. everytime i step on the gas its terrible . so i pull over and shut the car off for about 10 mins. so i start car up no problem drive it 20 mins back to my house and no sputtering or stalling. im at my witts end with this car. i have no idea what it could be. could it be that the opti is bad allready because i remember it doing this before i replaced the last one? god i hope not cause thats a sucky job. any suggestions will be great. i'll even give you my phone number if you can give me some advise. im allmost at the point of getting rid of this money pit but i love this car.

It could be a loss electrical connection just check around

 

If you do decide to torch it, take a video and post it please.

i wouldn't put any other opti on my car than a GM unit. some have luck with MSD, but if it were my car, its always GM.

my opinion is you blew up the opti again and need a new one.

thanks whammer , it does feel allot like it did b4 i replaced the last one. i just cant afford the gm one. they want a little over 600 dollars at dealer by me . i talked to a speed shop and they allways use the accel and they say they never have a problem with it so i might try it since its only around 250. idk. seems like i cant win haha

 

advance has it for around $430 for the gm ac delco.i got my last one for $265 plus core charge(i kept it)but i have a friend working at auto place and got it for me for cost

oh i'll never really torch it dc. ive wanted this car since i was a kid so ill do what i can to keep it going and eat the damm rice burners in myrtle beach haha

 

go with summit gm performace. 360 bucks or somewhere in that area. i think u get the 1 yr warrenty with the gm unit 2 yr with the msd. have u made sure the fuel pressure is were is supposed to be?
