Please Help!! Steering column problems

My steering whell is floppy i.e. you can move it up and down about three inches. This is gradually getting worse so bad that the car will cut off if you push on it the wrong way while running. I have the steering whell off and everything pulled out of the column as far as I can go and I still cannot figure out how to tighten the steering column. Please help!!!

I have a '94 as well, and while I can't say that the steering wheel is "floppy," if I pull down on it, even though it's set on the lowest position, it will still move a bit. Is this what you're experiencing, or is it really literally "flopping" around?

There are 3 bolts attachingthe steering column flange to the firewall, and 2 bolts attaching the steering column cover to a bracket attached to the dashboard. You need to remove the lower dash covers.
