please help!!!
Alright, so this may be a stupid question but oh well. I have a 96 LT1 Camaro and it's my daily driver, and I don't want to not have it for too long so I was wondering if I could just buy a regular 350 SBC and stroke that and drop that in without problems or is there something special about the LT1 block. Or do I just need to buy a specific LT1 block? Any answers will be awesome! Thanks!

RE: please help!!!
i don't understand the reason for your question? a small block 350 will fit yes, but won't be a bolt straight in application. is there something wrong with the lt1? and why would you not want to keep it for a while?

RE: please help!!!
Because the lt1 is my daily driver and I have a job so i would prefer to not have the motor pulled for too long. That's why I'm wondering if I have to get a specific LT1 block for a project motor of if I can just get a regular 350 block? Thanks

i'm still not understanding. let me see though, you're pulling the lt1 to build it up so you want something in there to drive with in the meantime? if that's the case, why not just buy another lt1 block and build it up and drop that one in there when its ready?

RE: please help!!!
It would be cheaper the buy a block. I rebuilt a 350 from a chevy van i believe?as a project in my auto repair class i took in hs.. Their not really the same fabrication is required.

RE: please help!!!
The LT1 has the same external dimensions and is based on the same design, but the block itself has some different mounting locations etc.
We're still having some trouble understanding what you're trying to accomplish here, we need some background. What's going on with the car, what are you currently or trying to do to it. What exactly are you trying to achieve with the car etc. In your original post you say that "you don't want to not have it for too long" so double negatives say you do want to have it for too long...huh?

RE: please help!!!
I want to keep the lt1 in my car....until its ready. What I was wondering is that if I can just buy a regular 350 block and build it up and bolt everything on from the lt1. Basically what I'm saying is that I want to buy a projct block and was wondering if I would need a specific lt1 block or if i could just get a regular 350 block for cheaper and still have everything be okay. Thanks 95slvrz28 for understanding somewhat, lol.

RE: please help!!!
is there anything wrong with the lt1 in your camaro now?
if not and you just want something bigger, if you want to build one yourself, find a used block, but make sure its not warped/cracked, etc and then buy new heads, rockers, etc. if you wanna just spend the money to have one already build, and you have a couple grand or 1500 to work with, hit up ebay and drop in a 383 stroker in there.
and i dont think theres such thing as a stroked 350 is there?
