Default Plastidip a whole car?

Question about platidip:

I have read that this stuff does not ruin paint when you peel it off. Would it be possible to paint an entire car with plastidip, then just peel it off when I get sick of the color?

How about vinyl? Like they make graphics out of. That's how NASCAR teams cover their cars. I've seen entire cars and vans covered with it.

The question is will it ruin my paint when I come to peel it off... That is what I am trying to avoid...

doesn't that stuff dry a little thick? if you did this i'm sure you could get it off, but i think even if its paint safe you'd damage the paint by cutting the plastidip off...

By the looks of that video, it would come off fairly easy, but would be time consuming to say the least.

I would think that you would need to start with an impeccably clean car with a fresh coat of wax to help protect the paint. Also, chips or cracks or peeling paint would probably not work out well if the plastidip settled into those areas.

I would suggest a small test in a area that is hard to see. Use it for a month and peel it off. Then make your decision.

The vinyl can be EASILY removed using a heatgun, working a small section at a time.

Im gonna vote vinyl also. The car in my signature has had several different numbers and sponsors over the years and the vinyl comes off without hurting the paint.

im dragging this up with good reason. so sorry it popped up so late.

After waiting until i could a buddy of mine let me test his car. He needs a paint job and had one lined up... we painted his whole car with plastidip. peels off just like in the video... then we had an idea. took it to a "do it yourself" car wash and high pressured it... it came off slowly. so we went back to his house pulled out the pressure washer and it melted off like butter.

paint under was fine. works well if your into changing your car all the time.
