Default Overheating problems

I had my LT1 bored out 30 over... does that cause overheating? I don’t know what the problem could be. Does anybody have any ideas? I’m about all out of ideas… I don’t know if this helps, but I also put a LT4 Hot Cam kit, headers and bigger flat top pistons.

look under your camaro. under the engine there should be a plastic flap that directs the airflow onto the engine. my camaro would overheat very fast and i found out that it was missing.

The Hot Cam and 0.030 overbore should not cause the engine to overheat as long as the proper clearances and assembly were used. If the clearances are too tight it will cause a lot more friction and heat. Assuming it was assembled correctly, then check for the front air dam as luvmysscamaro mentioned, also check that the temp gage is not lying, make sure the radiator is in good condition and clean inside & out, purge the air out of the cooling system, make sure the fans switch to high speed at around 230 deg., and hope you don't have a bad head gasket.

I know what flap you are talking about … and yes, it's on and on right... I did purge the water and the fans and radiator are working properly. Everything was assembled correctly and re-installed correctly. The headers are Pace long tube headers. I can’t believe this project is not completed… it’s been over a year since I started this and it’s still not done. Thank you all for your thoughts and suggestions…

if u have the ceramic coated headers that would help decipate some of the heat.no smoke comming out of the exhaust is there? and i would go with z28pete make sure the gauge isnt lying.

Even if the headers aren't ceramic coated they shouldn't cause the whole engine bay to overheat, so I wouldn't worry about that. My headers aren't coated and I have no issues.

I think I am going to buy the hearder wraps so I can tone down the heat a little. I guess I will take my car somewhere so I can get my gauge checked... Are those heat wraps even worth it?
