I'm working through this very slowly only because my time to work on this is very limited. I changed out the upper control arm bushings on my El Camino (that my youngest son is driving) yesterday so I could get the front end aligned. And it's something new every day, so I hope you figure this out before I do so I can start driving this car.

what have you done with the 02 sensors? a fouled 02 sensor can give false lean readings which the pcm sees and adds more fuel, this fouls the 02 sensors even more causing the pcm to see it needs to add more fuel, etc untill the motor is to rich to run.

I bought 2 new O2 sensors (Denso) and changed out the drivers side with no problem, the passenger side is another story altogether. I can get to it from under the car, but when I put the socket on the sensor it's so close to the flange the socket will not turn. The slot on the socket will only fit over the sensor so that it slips perfectly onto the manifold flange effectively locking it in place. It looks like the only way to remove this sensor is drop the manifold or find a special tool to break it loose from above? If anyone has a better way I would be very interested.
I pulled the intake manifold about a week ago and found some loose bolts that probably contributed to a vacuum leak. The RTV on the back of the intake looked a little suspect as well so I want to make sure everything is right before I reinstall.

02 sensor should be 22mm, its a tight fit. i cut the wire and if i remember right broke the end off and used a six sided 22mm socket with a pair of vice grips and a pipe wrench getting it off

the slotted socket will fit only when you line the slot up with the flange, then of course, it won't turn because it hits the flange. A regular 22mm socket won't even fit over the O2 sensor nut because it's too close to the flange. What a great design...

I've had the crossover out for a while now, starters not a problem. I may be able to get a crow's foot on it from above if I can find someone with strong skinny arms to break it loose. Can't get any leverage on it from below...
