Every since i have had my car the oil pressure guage has been stuck at pegged out. I put it on ramps and saw that there was one brown (I think) wire hanging down and there was not wires in the connector to the oil sending unit. How many wires go in there? Thanks.

 

i wish i could remember but just to many cars. what yr is your car and what motor?

 

93 z28 lt1. I went over to ls1 tech and found out that the brown wire is the only one because it grounds to the motor. So, I need to find another tip for the wire and hook it back up and see what happens. Thanks.

 

have u tested the sensor to see if its grounding. i think u can get it in there, test the wire and see if its grounded. try and find which direction to go. was the wire out and grounding? is the gauge still pegged with the sensor unpluged? that might be a better way to go, lol.

 

im looking in the book now, watching the tube to so im goin slow. had soccer practices every day this week and im a bit sore. i keep tellin myself to stop running but dont listen.

Thanks a lot craby. The wire was just hanging down from like the firewall area so i taped it off. That was about 3 years ago. The pressure guage has been pegged since I got it. I think the plastic part coming off the sending unit is supposed to have 2 arms coming off of it so the tip of the wire can snap on it but they are broke. The wire has no tip at all. Maybe I could get someone in the car and just touch the wire inside the plastic piece on the sending unit and see if it moves. Thanks a lot craby, you help a lot of people on here. What book do you have? The service manual? I need to pick one up.
