oil pump drive gear
i pulled into my driveway yesterday only to watch my motor lose oil presser after i put a new deep sump oil pan, new high volume oil pump, new drive gear, and new sending unit. to do this i pulled the motor last winter and put a bigger cam in it also. well it took me a while to get the car on the road this year after my 6speed swap. so at first i was hoping it was the sending unit but after pulling it off and putting a mechanical oil pressure gauge and presser still reading 0 i pulled the intake and all the teeth on my oil drive gear was gone the only thing i can think of is the teeth on my Comp cam 280 XFI cam #07-467-8 dont line up with my stock replacement oil pump drive gear
so my ? is has anyone else had this problem and if so how do i fix it

if the housing came apart you could use one of these. https://www.herronperformance.com/st...&productId=317

I know this sounds crazy, my oil pump locked down and stripped the teeth off the drive gear. I pump in a new oil pump and and I was not about to buy a gear for the lt1......advance wanted 57.00. So I had plenty of older sbc 350 gears, So I made a sleeve to fit inside the gear as a press fit......knock on wood I havent had a problem yet.
Check that oil pump.

Old thread yea. But a common replacement part for LT1. Curious what options for the OP drive are still available? Cant get the Herron page to load. I think the stock part is still available from GM. I guess in worst case we can use a gutted sbc distributor.
Also who sells the metal/aluminum coupling/busing/retainer? All i find are the nylon couplings.
