If you have a stock engine you will always do better using what the owners manual recommends for viscosity. Heavier weight oils should be used where bearing clearances have been set loose for extreme duty. I also highly recommend a synthetic oil be used. Your owners manual probably recommends a 5W-30 or 10W-30. Straight 30W is way too heavy for a stock engine and will tend to flow poorly when cold and starve bearings of oil on start-up.
