Arrow New here looking for a nice tune and hood :)

Hey I am on the brink of purchasing a 1995 Black Auto z28 in need of a tune, has potential just runs a bit rough.. I'm located in the Chicago area wondering if anyone knows of a good place. Also the hood does have some imperfections so I will most likely be interested in purchasing one, possibly a functional Ram Air... Any advice would be greatly appreciated

"runs a bit rough" could be anything. If the price is right then it should not matter.

Are you handy with engines?

Have you really spent time under the hood and looked at the lack of space to get to the plugs and wires?

It's not impossible.

So, let's assume that you have tools, a place to work on the vehicle and knowledge.

have you priced an optispark ?

If you aren't handy, call around and get a quote for replacing the optispark, spark plugs and wires including parts and labor and then decide if the vehicle is right for you.

They are fine vehicles and a lot of fun but you must have patience.

If the 95 Z is all original then prepare yourself at some time to replace

radiator
optispark
water pump
hoses
belt
plugs
wires

If the above items have already been repalced then you're ahead of the game. Buying a 14 year old car is like buying a home to remodel. It costs more per sq foot to remodel a home than the per sq foot cost to build a new home. It's because of the work involved to get to items, frozen bolts and at times, when you go after one part, you may disrupt another and need to replace those items as well such as replacing hoses when replacing the waterpump. or, after the water pump is replaced, and the cooling system running better, it may push the radiator over the edge and the plastic section then splits open in the usual location, thus a radiator replacement follows.
