the wiring is the nightmare there. Holy smokes dont do it. You will have huge issues with everything. Ignition, cluster, you name it. Were you thinking about carburated setup or what? Someone has told you some craziness. Get an LT1 they can be had cheaply just look for a buick roadmaster or something like that, look for the dual pipes and you have one. And nobody wants those anymore.be careful of the 5.3 though gm put those in a few and they look the same make sure its the 5.7

the reason im being so hard on you is because i have learned that way and it is not fun. It will be a bad experience, if you get it done though you gain knowledge but that is only if it doent break you first

so what yr and model of camaro are we talking about and what motor is in the car now? the lt1 is a much better motor to use plus its a better motor. sell the other motor or keep it for another project in the future.

Well its a fuel injected setup, I wasnt going to do a carburetor or anything like that, so I can just pick an LT1 out of a buick? do you know of any good sites or just look around a junk yard...

So basically its the wiring and cluster issue that are the biggest things ill go through if I do a regular 350 setup

Well itll be going in my 1996 Camaro Z28 its an OBD-II and the motor came out of an early 90 Blazer or jimmy, some thing like that, Cool thing would be that I have my LT1 that I can build as well

if u look at the blazer motor u will notice a distributor on the back of the motor. u will have to cut a hole in the firewall and maybe the dash of the camaro to alow this to fit. the two motors have many differences. if u wish to do this im sure it can be done as almost anything is posible. it will however decrease the value of your car. no one in there right mind is going to want a frankencar. so i will recomend using the lt1 again. lt1 has aluminum heads, roller cam and lifters so u have a roller motor that pushes 300hp stock. the lt is easier to get extra hp out of, the lt fits in your car,,, lol,. last time... rebuild the lt and forget about trying to put a blazer motor in a camaro.

yeah i'm with these guys above me...not trying to rain on your parade, but building that motor and trying to make it work would just be a bad idea. plus, the LT1 is so cool, lol.

this is why i said you need to do more research before doing anything like this. i've been reading up on builds for over a year now just to learn what is involved and what is best for me so i know what to expect going into something like that.

and you never said what is wrong with the motor in the camaro right now?

Nothin is wrong with it... i know it has had nitrous ran through it from previous owner and when I bought it the sun shell, torque converter, clutches and 3rd and 4th gear were done for so i spent 1400 on a rebuild on the 4l60e... It has 130k miles on it, you think I should just take this motor out to do the project on?

the only problem with that is not being able to drive it for a while...

You make a valid point... So are the junk yards my best bet for finding an LT1 for cheap?

it all depends on what you want out of the car and what you plan to do. tell us what you want out of the car, and we can definitely help to get you there!

Well I want it to be a daily driver so more on the reliable side, it definitely wont be used for just a 1/4 mile... I dont know if I want it supercharged since it will be my daily driver and gas mileage will be a pain with a supercharger i know that much... I just want my car to run on pump gas pushing around the 450 horsepower range I know 435-450 at the crank would be more realistic but if I can get that at the wheels it would be much preferred...

Id like a 355 setup on it and it for it breathe and exhale real nicely with maybe 48lb or 52lb injectors... If I can do away with 42lb that be good I suppose... So based on that what would I need to start with?

If I decide to go supercharger one day Ill have my spare LT1 to build for a later project

all I kow is that I have money to blow and I want a fast Z28 (faster than it is) I can always buy brand name parts but I know some might not work well with eachother and thats one of the hardest parts to figure out
