Or if you feel like opening a can of worms, as apparently I do. I went and searched everything I possibly could before even looking at the opti. I found quite a few problems along the way. Wiring issues, faulty sensors, leaks, seals, all sorts of things. I was forced to replace the opti when nothing else would work. With doing that you would do all front seals, pan gasket, possibly new WP, might as well get new plugs and wires if haven't already. Quite time consuming if you're doing it yourself in the garage :/ Opening a can of worms, it's like my J-O-B.

Yeah I mean we're not jumping right in saying its the opti, we're gonna do some troubleshooting before attempting the opti

Only my son understands the glazed look in my eye and wide smile when I enter the tool section. Swap meets are also a euphoric time.

Hahahah, true that. I have a bunch of coupons for harborfreight including 10-15% off and half off on sawzalls and ratchet sets (Craftsmen )

I broke 3 slide hammers, 1 bearing puller set, 2 socket wrenches, and a power drill from HF. Avoid that place, their tools are crap (unless it's something simple like box wrenches or hammers).

Well saw the car yesterday, it's getting towed home either today or tomorrow. I tried starting it, and yep, keeps turning, and nothing. Disappointing, to say the least.

Also I remembered outta nowhere one time I was sitting in the car, I was watching the rpm needle jump ever so slightly and when it would, there would be a bit of vibration. Never remembered to check for it again so idk if it ever did happen again.

But anyway, anyone think this could be related in anyway?

When I pulled my opti apart, there was dried up residue from fluids being inside. There is a sensor in the opti that picks up the cam position and feeds the signal to the pcm. If the sensor is bad or fouled it could cause the vehicle to have erratic idle speeds, rpm jumps, and other things while just sitting at idle or so. Apparently the sensor is suppose to set a code, yet mine never did and my opti was coated in places and the sensor was too.

Indeed! But now jr is a much better wrench than I...

All the fuses and grounds are checked, I reckon?

Well that'll be checked as soon as we get the car back, which is possibly today.

The car was towed home today, and it just keeps turning. but my dad's friend told me we're gonna go through everything to get it running again, so hopefully work will begin soon.
