Default need opinions on 94z28

Okay so im looking to buy a 94 lt1 off a guy for 3,200. The car has a rebuilt title, 177,00 on the body and 88,000 on the motor..The motor has alot of work done to it so the car is not stock. Only downside is their is a dent behind the gas tank and some paint is scratched off there, also some clear coat is coming off in places on the car. Also noticed the service engine light was on. Also missing a headliner but ikno that thats no big deal. Guy also put brand new seats and carpert in it...Is this a steal for that price or just about right or would I be getting ripped off?

Why is it a rebuilt title? I would be more curious to know what that is really about. If the car took a major structural hit then I would run! If it was because of some minor damage, no biggy, Flood Damage RUN FAST! The new interior and no headliner... Sounds flood to me. Why is the CEL on? Could be something stupid and no biggy but it could be major as well. $3200 is the going price around my neck of the woods for a LT1 car with no issues.

Thanks man, the guy im buying it off has only had it for a couple months, he said the people he bought it off of had already done the engine swap and they were gonna turn it into a drag car but sold it to him instead. The dent in the back doesnt look like it came from a wreck though just a dent you could lay the back of your hand in. Is their anyway I could tell if their has been flood damage? I dont think their has been but thanks for the heads up

Sounds like it was in a rear end collision. And it doesn't take much of a hit to total a car that's only worth a few thousand bucks.

Carfax it. There should be a listing of when the car was totaled, where it was at the time (Lousiana durring Katrina) and sometimes it will tell you the type of loss (flood accident, theft). Then you should see a listing of when the car was put back into service.

Just a side note... Why would you want to build a drag car out of a unibody when the structure of the car has been compromised? That is just asking for trouble.

Just look the car over really good. 69 is right it does not take much to total a couple thousand dollar car.

This damage totaled my car

I was able to fix it myself for $1500 but a shop would have cost about $4000 which was 4/5th the price of my car at the time.

please step back and remove the emotion from the purchase. yes, it's cool to be young and have a kick butt vehicle but don't let your emotions cloud your vision.

There are plenty of 4th gens for sale. Another red flag is the current owner has only had it for a few months; why?

I got my lt1 with remote start completely stock with some clear coat problems and 104000 miles for 2000 granted there was a problem with the knock sensor wiring and it ran like a 4 banger at the time but still for 3200 you should have no problem finding a much better conditioned camaro. might want to look into if he put a vented cap on it cause 94s didnt come stock with them. and he might be saying its a replaced motor but he has no documentation so dont buy into stuff like that. but im going with massey why did he need to replace seats and carpet and why was it totalled. My best advice keep looking on craigslist this is the season for cheap camaros
