I am doing the same. I just recieved my "How to rebild Small-Block Chevy LT-1/LT4 Engines". It has some very useful info as to recondition your block and prepare for the boring/cleaning/checking procedures. As well as all the hidden freeze plugs and the infamous "steel ball" located in one oil passage. Plus I found out my engine did not come with a needed gasket above the oil cooler mount from the factory.
But anyways, have you decided to go with 5.7in. rods and pistons or 6in. rods and pistons?

thats a good book. go 6". if you just take some time to read and research online you'll be good. is the shop putting the short block together?

I stayed with 5.7 rods myself. Wiseco pistons are pretty good, I guess, and they have K1 stroker cranks and rods available too.

i was going to build it myself but i might have the local speed shop do it i just need to get the book and parts and i most likely will got with a 6.in rod
thanks for the info

Well I would not let anyone touch my motor, if you want something done right you have to do it yourself. I don't even trust the machine shop to bore and hone it right but I don't have the machine to do it.
Good luck......

well the machine shop may know alot more than he does about building a motor. and the 6" rod is a little less stress on the cylinder walls

this guy makes me mad. not gunna name names, but i think people know who he is.

callies dragonslayer 3.75" crank
6" lunati rods
diamond pistons
LE2 heads and cam package
42# racetronix injectors
comp pro mag 1.6 rockers
whatever pushrods lloyd recommends

let a COMPETENT machine shop put it together for you. the bottom end is pretty much like a SBC to put together and lets face it, any good machine shop has done a million of those. you can slap on your own heads and install your own cam. that should be a pretty stout build if built correctly
