Apparently I'm misguided :/ confusion on the part of drill size compared to tap. I'll be using a 1/2-20 tap with a 29/64 drill bit in order to use the 1/2" bolt.

Its a small detail be you should try to keep that mass of the head bolt equal so everything stays semi balanced.

It's about as close as you could keep it I think, being a difference of 1/16th

Been awhile since on here, lots of things keeping me busy. Final question for this thread I believe and I think I've already asked before. I have the new hole for the crank snout drilled out. It's 29/64 so I can use a 1/2-20 bolt. I'm about to rethread but am unsure of the depth of the threads or depth of the hole into the snout. All throughout this drilling, and more so now, I can't differentiate between where the bolt was or ended. This is my problem, idk if I haven't drilled deep enough now or am still too shallow. Does anyone know the depth of this crank snout hole or thread depth?

If you go too far with too long of a bolt, you could always put a locknut on it, on the flywheel side of the crank.

I actually thought about building a light-saber and making some precision cuts. THE ULTIMATE WEAPON...and convenient garage tool!
