Major prob. need help
 

I replaced my fuel pump on my 96Z28 a few months ago. it doesnt even have 10k miles on it. my dad is driving my car from CA to LA where i live. He is in NM and it just died. he cranks just fine but wont start. he said that it sputtered then died and it wont stat now. i had this issue a few times before. first time i was going up a hill and it started to cut out so i pulled over but it was ok once i was on the side of the road. Next time it happend i was only 100 yards from home. it started a little slow then just died. it wasnt geting enough or any fuel. it started about 20 min after that. just started right up and it has not had that issue since then. i know this is very little info. but any ideas?

can he hear the pump coming on when the key is first turned on? what kind of fuel pump did u use? i had a ignition module fail that did that. it would quit and 20 minutes later start right up and run fine.

do you know what code that would be?

if u used a cheaper pump when u replaced then i would suspect the pump. there is no code for a bad pump. have u had it scanned?

i own a code reader but its back in CA so dads gatta pay 65 buck for a dude to read the code. it wasnt a cheap pump...i think. but it has a life time warranty.

i guess a good first step would be to check all the fuses in both fuse boxes. one under hood and one in car. especially the ignition fuse and the injector fuses.

well, it was the pump the whole time. good thing i can get a refund on it.

let me guess,,, it was a walbro pump.

Walbro's aren't that bad for burning up. If you look a all the threads out there. It is the stock relay that goes crazy. A guy I know replace his 2 or 3 times as it kept acting like the pump where it was the relay. Racetronix pumps are walbro's also :)
