Going to try. But have a funny feeling about taking a performance shop to court. Hopefully I can recoup something.

I reread the whole thread. You stated you had 95 PSI for a compression test. What caused that? was that fixed? I said I had a friend who got only 100 PSI and his 383 10.5:1 motor ran like a 305. Machine shop installed the wrong rings.

Small changes in Cam timing will have no effect compression test. You should have at least 140 PSI up to 160 once its broken in.

If you are parting it out you just list a asking price. I am looking for mostly bolt ons.

You may want to talk to the shop. This could be very embarrassing for them. Its one thing to miss an estimated HP on a dyno it is another thing for them not to beable to get the car drivable. This is the kind of stuff that closes hot rod shops. Just calmly tell him you are going to post on every form and hit every car show and let everyone know about the project. Don't expect every single penny back but he needs to make an effort or send your car to a hvy hitter to get it working.

The motor was torn down twice the rings came from Summit not sure how you can install the wrong rings and it not cause major damage. As for parting out the car yes i'm not kidding i'll have the list up near the end of the week with all parts and part numbers with an asking price.

As for the compression test it still reads about 115 on all 8 cyclinders. no clue why its that low. re degreed the cam and it only raised it 10 psi. as for now though nothing has changed except now the car wont even start it backfires through the exhaust. The only thing was change was the Cam went from -2 to +3 degrees by adjusting the cam. no clue way it won't even run now. I fouled out all the plugs and replaced them no clue. So instead of throwing more money at the car with this shop i'm going to walk away with 17-18k in the hole 7k labor 10k parts. I know I will only if i can sell everything make back maybe 7k so 10k lost total. better than nothing i guess.

UPDATE: Sorry for not posting or reponding to PM's my son has some medical issues that took alot of my time the past few weeks.

So does anyone need a 08-503-08 CAM

Note the part number. After weeks of paying a shop to put my car together I sat down and started going over everything in my head and noticed/stumbled across the part number that was ordered. To make it Simple the wrong cam was installed in the car and the part numbers are only one digit difference the lack of compression and timing issues and lack of power all because a dowpin on the 08-503-08 is about a half inch shorter than the 07-503-08 which was the correct CAM

Anyone need a Cam or optispark or PCM let me know I have Spares now

Optispark II is new
Comp Cam 08-503-08
and Spare PCM

Thumbs down

Wow man I just wanted to say sorry for your nightmare. $7K is a lot of money to end up with a car that isn't up to par.
