The car has the same motor trans opti etc. To my knowledge the only difference is the body. Maybe gearing. If I'm mistaken please someone correct me.

im thinking the only thing that could be different is the vats and i think its in the bcm. 300 bucks and pcmforless will send you a tuned pcm. you could have the vats tuned out if its in the pcm.

Man this must be unbearable. I know a couple people have gotten a little into ignition, but have you done the obligatory autozone ICM test?

been doing some thinking here. if you had your computer tuned with the cam degreed off, then degreed it back correctly without changing the computer again, it will give you issues. also, putting it on the other car will give the same issues because the other car will think its tuned to be retarded as well. some food for thought

The only thing I tuned in the old computer was all the emissions tunes out. Ie. Egr air pump 2 O2 sensors. And bumped idle to 800rpm. Nothing else because we couldn't even get that far to even tune.

As for the other computer got one out of another 97 camaro ( thanks junk yard) low and behold started up stayed running. Now back to the dyno for new tune. Wish me luck.

Did you tune out the upstream o2 sensors? That would explain why the engine would not stay running. The upstream sensors are used for fuel mixture and timing (to a point). The new computer would be OK with no o2 sensors at least for a little while. At first the computer does not take readings from the O2S, when the engine reaches a certain temp then it goes into closed loop mode and takes readings from all sensors. The fuel metering is calcualted by air temp, MAF, MAP, and O2S, and other factors like engine temp and load.
