Default LT1 top speed

I have a question for all of the members who have modified their Z or TA:

What kind of top speed do you guys get? My 95 Z hit about 160 (went way past the 150 mark, so I am guessing) stock.

Say I upgrade to 450 HP/ 450 ft/lbs (My Christmas present to myself), what increase in top ed do you think I will get? 6th gear will have a .40 ration (from .50 stock), and I will be running 3.23:1 in my rear end. You think 180 is possible? Or am I dreaming here? Craby, this question is actually directed to you, since I will be getting LE2 heads... Thanks.

Got it. I just got an PM from another member about getting the LT1 to turn really fast and go fast, so I think I might go that route. But thanks anyway. Anyone else have some experience with 150 MPH+ in our LT1 F bodies?

I have not experienced that too much as my top speed run was on a flat highway... However, wouldn't suspension upgrades minimize or eliminate the up and down motion at speed? Or would I have to get a body kit to force the car to the ground?

Building a good suspension will do far more for your handling than a body kit.
The best body kits out there can't overcome a sloppy, bouncy suspension.

how are you guys trapping 150 mph on the 1/4 ?

Surely you aren't driving like that on the roads ?

It sucks, but I'm gonna build this car right. Start with the rear. It will be a while before I get where I want, but it'll be awesome! I hope...

I do my top speed runs out in the desert. There are two stretches of road between I-40 and I-15 that I drive out to to do my runs. Completely deserted and newly paved. And you can see the road like 20 miles ahead slowly going up...

That's where I hit 160 in my Z...
