Default LT1 running like garbage

Ok people, I'm almost 90% positive what you're all gonna say, I just want my suspicions confirmed. 1995 LT1 with about 100k on it, car sat for about a year due to bad throwout bearing and wasted fuel pump. Before the fuel pump went bad, the car was running fine. Replaced bearing and fuel pump with a Walbro 255 and the fuel filter. Put some Sea Foam in the tank and got rid of old gas, put fresh premium in it. Car needs excessive cranking and the throttle held to the floor to get it to start. Some black smoke when it starts and when you give it some throttle. Has no cat. Car runs rough during initial start up for the day and then idles fairly normal. If you give it throttle, it'll climb to about 3k and start to die until you let off, if you floor it it'll go to about 3k and then slowly die without any shaking or sputtering, almost like you turned the key off. Does the same thing when you drive it but you can't give it more then about half throttle before or at 3k and it starts to sputter and die. Turned the SES light on once and then shut off. If you gradually give it throttle with the clutch in or in neutral, you can get it to sputter to a little over 4k. I bought an MSD Pro billet opti that I haven't installed yet. You're all gonna tell me the opti that's on it now is junk though and to go ahead and put the MSD in, aren't you? I know just about every time these cars have some kind of indling or driveability problem, it's the damn opti.

have u scanned for codes? it sure sounds like to much fuel or not enough spark. whens the last time its had new plugs and how old are the plug wires. plugs could have a layer of rust or corrosion on em from setting. setting that long has probly let the opti rust on the inside and collect moisture through condensation. if your going to do the opti it would be the best time to change wires. and plugs as far as that goes. just for good measure unplug the fuel pressure regulator vacumn line and see if theres fuel in it, give it a smell.

^ya that. sounds like a spark plug issue. similar thing happened to me once where the car was acting up like that and i had to replace the valve cover gaskets cuz they were letting oil seep into the spark plug chamber.

Ok, I have new wires so I'll swap them tomorrow when I do the opti. I would have thought it plugs, too but it's totally inconsistant. I'll change'em too though. SOmetimes it doesn't wanna even stay running and idles like crap. Those are all symptoms of a bad opti I've found. Well, it'll basically have a new ignition so we'll see what that does.

I Know this may sound stupid , But i'll throw it in anaway because i've seen it myself once. If all this doesn't fix it wait untill its really night and very dark, crank it and look at the coil and see if its arcing to anything. if it does chang it and the ignition control module.

If you're gonna do the opti you might as well replace you're water pump and t-stat since you're at 100k and already going to be there anyways to get to the opti.

Craby, what do you mean "fpr"? What should I check with that? CNC, supposedly the MSD is the best solution to the optispark problem these cars have. I know Baileys Engineering makes a coil pack conversion, if that's what you're referring to. A friend of mine bought that but hasn't installed it yet. The MSD has the adjustability to advance/retard the timing + or - 7 degrees.

They must be paying you Navy boys better then us Air Force boys, lol those water pumps are pricy. 'Course, so is a new head, lol. Thanks guys. We're working on it as we speak. I'll post the results.
