If the car is running rich you need to look at the components that determine mixture. Make sure your MAF and O2 sensors are giving good data. Try unplugging the MAF, thus forcing the car to run off the MAP. If it clears up you've found your problem. Is the SES light on?

themap for most cars is pig rich. its suitable just for getting u home to figure out what the F is wrong with ur MAF. I learned this after tuning SD with a few guys. when the MAF plug comes out the car just starts dumping fuel

Do what the light tells you! Get the computer scanned & get the trouble codes, and use them as a starting point. Also, what makes you think the engine is running rich?

i agree with u getting it scanned but from what ive read on here it will spit out several possibilitys and it ends up being a plug wire or something i was hoping these were tell tell symptoms of something and mayby i could avoid taking it somewhere.

Typically if it's a plug wire you'll be able to feel the car missing, and you'll be able to smell unburn fuel in the exhaust. Like we said, get the car scanned and go from there. If they car was missing you should be able to tell. When my car has a cylinder that wasn't firing right it you would be able to feel that it's missing pretty bad until you got up to about 2400 RPM and then it would feel like it smoothed out.
