lt1 rebuild..need help?

Default lt1 rebuild..need help?

im rebuilding ma lt-1 an need sum tips...on how to do it rite the 1st time..its still a daily driver ..i was wondering if i bored out 60 over it wud b ok ..?wud i have to get it sleeved?

im rebuilding ma lt1 an need to no wat to do first...?i was thinking about bording 60 over..is that too much 4 a daily driver?

did your machine shop or engine builder tell you that it needed to be bored?

Normally you want to bore the cylinders out only as much as it takes to true up the holes. An overbore isn't much of a performance enhancer. .030 would be the first logical jump, which would gain you about 5 cubic inches.

first thing u need is a factory service manual. they are the only way to go. i pick one up for 25 bucks. heres what it looks like.

if funds are limited then im not sure id bore it if it didnt need it. the lt1 is a strong motor. 30 over is a good way to go and not have to worry about the cylinder walls gettin weak. a good head and intake job, cam and roller rockers would be a good start. hears a couple places to check out.

the first two cams would be good for what u want.
le2 heads if u can afford it.

going .060 over really thins out the cylinder walls...you can make 396 cubes just going to .030 over so i see no point in going .060

naw no 1 told me that it needed to .. i thout it wud do better performance wise.. but i guess not lol ..any suggs? on wat i cn do to gain horses engine wise..like wat kind of pistons.cam?any thing ...thanks

dam dude thats pretty expensive..lol i only have 1700 rite now . wat cud i do wit that.? an gain hp?.

you said in another thread you have 1700 bucks. do you have the bolt ons such as headers, CAI, gears, exhaust, etc? if not, start there

that should get the block done, heads checked, bearings and gaskets. if u have it bored out ull have to get new pistons and have the crank checked, it may need turned which is more bucks. make sure u get the block done right so when u can afford it u can upgrade the heads and valvetrain. if u have any extra bucks upgrade the cam now and u can add 1.6 rockers and springs latter when the heads are upgraded. keep in mind as this is coming together ull want a cai, long tube headers and a good cat back exhaust.
