Stock block decked and bored 30 over
Rebuilt heads (53.5 cc) with polished SS valves and port matching
Stock intake with port matching
52 mm Edelbrock TB
11:1 compression
KB Hyper pistons -14 dish
6" I beam rods
1.6 Ratio Rockers
Single Roller Cloyes Timing set
Comp Cams 280XFI with matching lifters, retainers, beehive springs.
GM crank
Balanced rotating assembly
Stock Flywheel

I have checked just about everything at this point. The only way left to go is inside the motor. Like maybe bad compression or the camshaft isn't installed correctly. At this point I don't know what's wrong, but I've put a rebuilt motor into this car before and it fired right up, 1st crank.

Sometimes. It'll crank and then start to catch, but it can't do it enough to run without the starter going. When I let off of the starter, it stumbles for maybe a second or two and dies. The RPMs never go 100 beyond what the starter can take it to.

have you tried giving it a little gas to see if it will catch?

Yes and it doesn't. I poured gas into the intake. That didn't work, so I tried starting fluid. That didn't work either. Slightly holding the gas pedal down (maybe 1/4) while cranking seems to get it spinning the fastest, but it will not run on its own.

The engine seems to spin fairly quick just with the starter. A little too quick. Which is why I'm going to do this compression check. I have to wait to put a little one to bed 1st. But hopefully, in the next hour I'll be doing that.

So, I could only do a compression check on the driver's side (1,3,5,7) and they were @ 145 psi. Things are way too tight to get the hose down there on the passenger's side. I put a spark plug in the cylinder and cranked the motor to see if there was compression. You could hear the starter slow down on the compression stroke. I did this to cylinders 2,4,6,8 and they all reacted the same. I put it all back together and still no improvements.

I unplugged the 02 sensors. Didn't change the results. I will now work my way to the optispark and see exactly where it's pointing when the #1 cylinder is a TDC.

As far as I know. At the schrader valve, I get 45 psi. I have individually tested every injector and I can hear the solenoid clicking. I've checked the wires coming into the injectors and they have a signal. When I turn the motor without the plugs in, I can smell gasoline. I just drained the fuel tank and put in 5 gal of fresh premium back in there.
