LT1 not starting???

Hey guys, my 95 z is having issues. It rained the other day and I had a bad squeal from the belt area. I sprayed it with stop squeal and it got worse, but stopped after a few minutes. I went to start it the next day and it won't start. It cranks, and sounds like it tries to catch, but never does. I think its the timing chain, but wanted to get some opinions before I started tearing it apart. Any input would be great. Thanks!

Why would you think its the timing?
Cranks but wont starts is normally missing somthing. 1) check for fuel pressure, 2) check for spark 3) check for signal to the injectors. 4) pull a plug and make sure it is not flooded.

Normally a car the has fuel and spark in might not start but it should atleast backfire even with the timing 180 degs out.

I've got fuel and spark. It tries to catch (sputters like its firing) but won't do it. Also I smell fuel, thinking from the exhaust. If not timing, and I've got spark and fuel, what else?

with it happening after getting some moisture i would say my first thought is the opti didnt like it. how old is the opti? did you see this is a sticky in the lt1 section. https://camaroforums.com/forum/lt1-l...t-start-65637/

As far as I know its as old as the car. I just got the car 6 or 7 months ago and was saving up to get a msd kit. Thanks for the link BTW. So your thinkin the opti has gone bad? I'll do some more diagnosing and let you guys know what I find out.

Avoid the MSD unit and go for an OEM AC Delco. Also, I don't think a bit of belt conditioner will kill an Opti. I'd do a bit of digging before you replace anything.

Thanks for the advice guys. I fixed it, problem is I don't know what I fixed. I took the intake tube off, unplugged the sensors, and cranked it. Fired right up. Now it runs better then before it broke down... So I'm kinda stumped. Could be the MAS, but what is the other sensor right before the throttle body?

intake air temp sensor. so has the car had time to dry or has it been raining? mas could do it but not a common thing

It's been dry for a few days. Also, I tried crankin before I took the intake tube off and it still wouldn't start. I did forget to mention that I plgged the ECT in after I took everything else off. I'm worried I have a loose connection for everything to start working all of a sudden. The ECT has been unplugged since I got the car BTW.
