Cool LT1 In the 12's?!?!

I have a 96 Trans Am and i want to get in in the 12's range
I want to put the LT4 Hot cam kit in it......does anyone have input about the kit? also headers, CAI and a Stall,
Think that would net me close the the 12's range?
runs 14 Flat now
input would be appreciated

i was going to get the lt4 hot cam kit myself but there is much better out there like the cc503 cam. the cc503 cam will get into low 12 with some radials on easily maybe high 11's. nothing wrong with the hot cam though with the mods you have listed and the hot cam you can get mid twelves .

a quality stall and matching gears will probably net 12's

imcdowel is probably a little generous on his time predictions though, lol. i'd guess a quality cam with supporting mods would net low 12's and i suppose perhaps 11's now that i'm sitting here and considering it.

as he stated, the hotcam kit is really old technology. there's nothing wrong with the kit itself, just not the best choice.

comp pro mag NSA rockers
patriot gold springs
trickflow pushrods
30# injectors
and the cc503 cam or a custom ground one from lloyd elliott

Yeah I want this to be a daily driver as well
Just listened to the comp cam OMG that sound is amazing! lol
but these cams ima prob watch my gas mileage hit the floor huh i got 17 last tank full and i was about to throw a party lol.
The stall is also a required thing with these right?
and the price is prob some what the same between the whole set up right?

but yeah me and my dad have this thing going and if he said i get my car in the 12's he will build back up his 12.60 cutlass he had.

i'd say a cam swap done properly will run about a grand, give or take. a quality stall is about 500 bucks if you can find a used one.

as i said, get headers, CAI, catback, stall, and gears and you should be able to break the 12's.

ideal world build for bolt ons plus a cam for me would be:

LPP stainless headers(600 or so)
borla catback(900 i think?)
trickflow elbow(80 i believe)
k&n CAI(180 or so)
yank ss3200 stall(600 or so)
3:73 gears(couldn't tell ya)
all the parts that go with a cam swap and then a custom ground cam from lloyd elliott. all done properly and you COULD break into the 11's

Yeah I have the flowmasters already and I wouldnt have to pay anyone to put the cam in.
Prob put a cheaper set of headers on too 600 seems a lil steep.
Im probably going to have around 2500 bucks for all this and i think that will do the cam the CC503 compared to the LT4 gains anyone know what the difference would be in there gains?

30rwhp or so would be a guess of mine.

600 bucks for headers and a y made of stainless steel is a hell of a deal man...and the fitment is beautiful. i wish i had them on my car.

i didn't mean the labor for a cam swap would be a grand, i meant the proper parts and what not.

quality rockers-250 or so
quality springs-200-250
pushrods-100
injectors-200
cam itself-250
gaskets and other crap-priceless

Yeah but my main focus right now is the Cam that should drain me for a while money wise. and seems to me that im liking the CC503 better and better just sounds so aggressive and mean

youll get tons more gains with air in and air out, especially considering a cam. cai, tb, headers with catback will help you tons when you put that cam in, im looking to get it to but im sick of the stock manifolds

yeah you don't want to cam your car without the proper mods...the cam will be extremely choked down and won't gain much at all.

you might be surprised at just what a CAI and headers can do for an otherwise stock car
