I have a 95 Z28 Camaro and the low coolant light keeps coming on. Ive checked the coolant levels both when the engine is hot and cold and the levels are always fine. Is there any way to check the low coolant sensor.

It's pretty much a float switch that gets stuck because I am personally not a fan of dexcool. I like using the new Prestone Universal.

 

Using Shoebox's picture as indicated by 94Z28SHAKER, remove the two wires from the coolant sensor, which is attached to the top right side of the radiator. Short the two wires toghether and the lite should go out. If the light stays on you have a wiring problem, if the light goes out, there is a problem with the sensor. You can remove the sensor and clean it out and retry it, if still no good it will have to be replaced. If you are not interested in the sensor, leave the two wires permanently connected to each other and the lite will stay off, leave the sensor in to plug the hole in the radiator.
