Default Lots of heat

Got a 94 z28, whenever I drive the car, there is an extreme amount of heat coming from underneath the dashboard. I know there should be some cause the engine sits on the other side of the firewall, but damn its hot!!! It almost feels like I have the heat running, which I dont. Its the same way, but not as bad on the passenger side. It only happens when I drive long distances, or city driving, lots of stop and go. My temp gauge is always fine, nothin wrong there. Thanks for the input all!

Whats the deal tho, its fickin hot underneath there!!! Is there something wrong, or just the way the car is? You are damn right thats why we have t-tops, I wouldnt have a camaro any other way! (No offense to others, I love all the f-bodies) I hardly ever use the A/C in the summer windows down and the tops off!

Hot water goes through the heater core all the time. The heater core lives in HVAC housing under the dash. There are several air doors that control where the heat goes. If they are stuck or don't work right, things can get pretty warm inside the car. A quick and dirty fix is to pinch one of the heater hoses shut, and keep the hot water out of the heater. Of course, if you are rough and tough, you can drive with the heater blasting away in the summer, and help the engine stay cool.
