either will go or not i have had a ecm get wet and crash but it still got me home and i have had one just go and the motor would not run. opti can do the same, run and then not and then run. or run until it stops and wont run anymore. call the place you got the opti and let them know you have gotten this code and checked everything out and it points to a bad opti. there are some tests you can do on the opti to see if its failing. not sure where that is. how to and faq or shbox i think.

Well I'll check that ground first. If it comes down to it, I'll run the car as is until either summer rolls around or I'm back home for a weekend where I can take everything out again and either replace the Opti or if it comes down to it, a new ECM.

I wouldn't run the car for too long with a bad opti (if that's what it is) if you can help it.
My bad opti was making the engine run rich on the left bank, and it made the left cat overheat and trashed it.

I have not dived into my ECM yet and doing the best I can to keep from doing so. I'm okay with electronics...but something like that would be new to me.
Really wish this wasn't all happening at once. Got to get catalytic converters to pass inspection again.
So any other ideas at this point?
And the problem is the "high resolution signal" which I guess it doesn't need in order to run. Just annoying having the fans running the whole time.. and the SES light. But no cats so I don't have to worry about them overheating. I just find it hard to believe the opti could be bad when it's brand new. I know it happens, but what are the chances of a brand new ICM going bad and a brand new opti going bad?
EDIT: All righty. Got under the car today and found a ground on the passenger motor mount. Looked it over and it was covered with grease/oil/dirt. Attempted to take it off but the first bolt is rusted to ground connector and the only way it's coming out is if everything goes out, including the main nut and stud. I ended up just cleaning that off with brake cleaner. Moved on to the one on the starter...couldn't really see it, but felt it and felt fine. Wiped it down with brake cleaner also. I then moved back up to the grounds under the coil. The one looked a little beat, so I put a new ring terminal on it. I am curious, though, one of the wires that's with that one, runs down below the abs and grounds to the body with another ground wire. Why would a ground wire, ground itself? Or is there just in case the first ground can't ground and it'll attempt to ground it to the second spot?
