I agree with craby, I think it may have something to do with your fuel pump and getting enough fuel pressure.

I see what you're saying, I didn't explain well enough but I do that, also for a secondary reason. My oil level sensor needs to be replaced and the low oil light will stay on unless I cycle the key. What I do is turn the key to the on position for 5 seconds but not start. Back off for 5, then on for 5 and start. I'm not sure if I've ever really been able to hear the fuel pump but I'll give a good listen in the morning.

let me revisit this. So don't leave the key in the on position, just turn it on, then back off without much waiting? Then again before trying to start? I've been doing as in my above comment.

sounds like your doing it right, leave the key in the on position until the fuel pump stops, you should hear it. do it three time then try turning to the start position and see if it will start up and run. if fuel pump is not coming on then that may be the issue.

^ You shouldn't have to listen too hard for the pump, you should hear it in the drivers seat.

Yup I hear it. If I turn the key off for about 5 or so seconds, I can hear it again. Hasn't seemed to make a ton of difference.

Does it start then die or a few cylinders fire and die? Or do you not hear any cylinder firing until it starts?
