is it possible for the computer to lose its factory tune? it sounds like what it does when you upgrade the cam and heads and not get a tune. plus it runs like crap.

check all your wireing. easy to get a plug wire crossed or forget a sensor. check the knock sensor make sure it didnt get unplugged or damaged. how bad is it, it takes a couple starts and drives to let it learn.

I just rebuilt my motor and my knock sensor really messed up my engine. The knock sensor is on the passenger side of the engine under the headers. You will have to get under the car to see it. Here is a picture of one. http://shbox.com/1/ks.jpg. Check all the wiring and such. Also, if there is any way for you to hook up a laptop just check your spark retarding and if your knock sensor is not working right it will retard the engine really bad.

yes it throws the same codes it always has even when it ran normal.
the engine isnt the original to the car im pretty sure because it looks nothing like the lt1 out of a camaro or firebird. if that makes sense, like i cant even find where you check the fuel pressure or anything. i can take a picture of it. its not very pretty under the hood.

fuel pressure fitting on the 96 should be in back on the passenger side,, yep way back there were its hard to get to. if u follow the fuel line as it crosses to the passenger side (in back, were the fuel comes in, not front) u should find it just before the rail on that side. picture or three would be good, never turn down one to look at.
