I'm new to this and I'm about to buy a 1994 or 1996 camaro. I've been looking for a z28 and I really want 5 speed, but all the z28s I find are auto. So would it be better to buy a z28 and convert it to manual or buy a v6 manual and swap in the lt1?

 

z28 came either 6 speed manual or 4 speed auto. also you can not use the v6 tranny with a v8 wont bolt up keep looking and make sure you find what you want. you will save money just buying what you want in the first place instead of trying to swap things around

 

Swapping engines or transmissions in these cars is not easy. There is a lot of work involved and unless you have the entire donor vehicle to pull wiring harnesses and other things off of, it probably isn't worth the effort.

I have the auto and it is a nice transmission. If you have to have the manual, keep looking until you find one.
