hey guys, i installed my lt4 knock module the other day and my car seems like its running a little better. BUT when i'm just driving normal, just cruising, its still kind of jumpy.
thats reallythe best way i can decribe it. when its doing it the rpms are staying the same, but i can feel the car kind of hesitating. the weird part is that it only happens randomly.

any other ideas??

slvr, the only ls motor that has this issue is the 98s [:@] the knock sensor is waaaaay to sensitive. btw, anyone know where that thing is for the ls1? im going to replace mine here soon to stop needless power loss

The LT1 KS module is not very discriminating on the type of noise it respnds to. The LT4 KS module has a better filter to pick out real knocking noise and is less sensitive to other noises. This is only a problem with LT1 engines. The LT4 module fits inside the PCM housing in place fo the LT1 module.

my question concerned 98 ls1's which was the guinea pig year for the fbodies. they do have very sensitive knock sensors, as well as picky PCM's that like to fry if you arent playing really nice. 99+ dont have these issues.but for the ls1 i was under the impression it was the sensor itself and not the module that interprets it, and therefore I need to get under the intake manifold or something.... wherever that thing sits

its alright. i got what i thought would solve the problem, but i posted earlier today saying it didnt. the lt4 KS module didnt completely solve the problem, even though my car is running a bit better.

hey guys, like i said the lt4 knock sensor module didnt fix my problem. i hooked the car up to a scanner yesterday and i had a couple codes saved on there. one was for the right 02 sensor. so, i got new 02 sensors with extensions and am waiting for them to come in.

now, when the car was on the scanner it showed that it would not go into closed loop. i've heard from some people that the coolant sensor could cause that.. but the gauge is still reading correctly.
since that is the case should my problam be fixed when i put the new 02 sensors in? please let me know what you guys think..

thank you.

If you have a malfunctioning O2 sensor it will cause the car to stay in "Open Loop" mode because the car cannot obtain good data to determine fuel mixture due to the bad O2 sensor. This causes the car to rely on the MAP sensor and the preset fuel tables to determine how much fuel to inject. When you get your new sensor hopefully it will clear up the issue.
