I had a Power Programmer for my 96, and if I'm not mistaken, his will work on both the LT1 and LT4. And you're right, it basically works on a series of yes/no questions, not really a fully customizable tune. It did give a few things to play with though. You can choose the "optimized" tuning for either 87 or 93 octane, correct the speedometer after a gear/tire change, change the shift firmness (auto trans), change shift points, have the cooling fan turn on at a lower temp, extend the rev limiter, change top speed limiter, and read & clear codes.
EDIT: I meant to mention that if he does play with his Programmer, make sure he keeps his doors closed. When I first used mine, it didn't work, it froze up. I contacted Hypertech and they told me that it's possible that a current draw (dome lights) can cause the thing to not work correctly. I tried again with the door closed and it worked fine.

Doesn'tpcmforless charge you for a pcm if you don't originally send yours in? I mean, you will pay $175 IF you send your pcm in. But you will get a corecharge ($125) + $175 if you get one of theirs. THEN, you get $125 core charge back when you send in your pcm.
