Default How to check the differential fluid?

I was under the car today and I pulled the plug out of the diff. It is leaking at the bottom and I was wondering...What do you look for on the plug ? I didn't see a level mark on it.

And where is the correct place to add the fluid. I saw a fitting for a socket wrench and I was assuming that is the correct place. Just wanted to make sure.

yep there should be a plug on the side of the differential u fill to the bottom of the plug so oil is not running out but even. u also need to have the car level or close to it. look to see if the oil left a trail to the seal at the front yoke or inspection plate gasket may be leaking

When I looked at it, I saw that it is leaking in the back behind the blue gasket. So I checked the bolts on the diff....I tightened the one by the leak and it was tight, but I gave it a turn....Idk if it needs a new gasket or if I need to just not be afraid to over tighten them and tighten them up !

theres a fill plug.. fill it up till it flows out that fill plug.. one it starts, your full.. so to check, take out plug, stick finger in there.. if you feel fluid close to lip of fill hole.. your good.

Ok quick question here..... I was just under the car.....there is a dipstick type plug on top of the diff. I pulled it out.......Is this where you check the fluid level ? I can't get my finger to fit...Or....what about this plug on the side of the diff....It has a fitting for a socket wrench on it....

I'm just not certain.....

Any suggestions ?

thanks
