horse power???
ok ive got 6k to build my motor. i want between 400-500 hp to the wheels. or around 10-11sec on the 1/4. someone told me (which i say there full of it) that if i wanted that much hp to the wheels that i would have to have 1000hp in the motor. to the crank. well like i say i think there full of it and i know they are but im doing this to prove them wrong. he said "hp from the crank to the wheels is halfed. basicly what you have to the crank, half of that will be your whp. example, the z28 has 285 hp to the crank. so you would have about 140hp to the wheels." same as he says if you run 140 in the quarter your in 7 seconds.

RE: horse power???
Ha...haha...ha....heh...ya, 50% drivetrain loss, not likely. Most of the time a good general number for drivetrain loss is about 15%. To get some good HP out of it, you'll need heads, cam, ported/polished intake manifold, throttle body, full header back exhaust, CAI. That may...may get you close. To the the times down, some 3.73 or 4.11 gears would help. If you still need HP, then you're probably either have the option of nitrous(boo!) or getting a new bottom end and stroking it out to a 383, in which case you'll want new crank, pistons etc. pretty much rebuilding the motor completely...

check that out it will tell you everything you need to know on how to make your car fast with a leaf blower. 6k you could do the twin leaf blower set up.

RE: horse power???
yeah im going to go up to the chevy dealership and talk with them about what motors they can get. ive looked on jegs but all are carb. i want fuel injected.i dont know any good sites to look at for the crate motor. but i really appreciate the advise. people say go with a crate cuz of waranty. my brother has 15years of work on cars and he can build bad *** motors but hes built them and they made a few passes and came to peices. had it shipped off to find out why and they couldnt even find out why it did it. i want a bad *** car. but i also dont want to waste the money. ill show you a guy thats got a bad *** camaro.
